KEEP YOUR HAIR SHINY & HEALTHY
STYLE YOUR HAIR DAILY
Here are some simple tips to condition your hair using some everyday household ingredients:
- Rub enough mayonnaise into your hair to coat it, wait up to an hour, and wash it out. You’ll be amazed at how soft and shiny your hair is, thanks to this great protein source.
- Substitute condensed milk for your regular conditioner. The protein provides an extra-special shine.
- Mix 2 ounces olive oil and 2 ounces aloe vera gel with 6 drops each of rosemary and sandalwood essential oils. Olive oil is an emollient, aloe hydrates, and rosemary adds body and softness.
Keep the water temperature warm or lukewarm -- a hot shower can expand the hair cuticle, allowing pigment molecules to escape -- and don't feel compelled to shampoo daily if you don't have to, since detergents can prematurely fade dye. Color-treated tresses should only be cleansed and conditioned with "color-safe" products, which are brewed to prevent leaching pigment from your pricey dye job.
If you style your hair daily and needs to use hair products- hairspray for hold, wax for hold and shine, or serum for shine and to maintain fly-away pieces- then don't use too much! You might end up weighing your hair down and reducing its volume, or just making it greasy and dirty. Often less is more.
Also, don't forget to protect your hair. If you style your hair with a hair straightener or blow-dryer, it's very important to protect your hair with heat protecting products, and to give your hair a break every few days from the stress of using hair accessories and hairstyling tools.
